What types of plumbing problems do we fix?

Most calls we get in Oklahoma City fall into a handful of categories. Here is what each one usually looks like, why it happens here, and why it is worth fixing quickly.

250+ gal/day

Frozen and burst pipes

Oklahoma City gets sudden arctic blasts after mild weeks, and lines in attics, garages and outside walls are the first to freeze. IBHS reports that a crack just one-eighth of an inch wide can release more than 250 gallons of water a day. We thaw frozen lines safely, find the split before it floods the room, and repair it. See frozen pipe repair and burst pipe repair.

9,300 gal/yr

Hidden leaks and slab leaks

According to EPA WaterSense, the average household's leaks waste more than 9,300 gallons a year, and 9 percent of homes have leaks wasting 50 gallons or more every day. On slab foundations, a leak can run under the floor for weeks. Warm spots, a spinning meter and rising bills are the clues. We find it with slab leak detection and fix it with the least digging possible.

24/7

Clogged drains and sewer backups

A slow kitchen sink is an annoyance. Several fixtures gurgling or backing up at once usually means the main line, often from grease, wipes or tree roots in older clay and cast-iron pipe. We clear it, then put a camera down the line so you know whether it was a one-time clog or a pipe that needs sewer line repair.

20 yrs

No hot water or a failing water heater

Rusty water, popping noises, a leaking tank or a pilot that will not stay lit all point to a water heater on its way out. ENERGY STAR lists a 20-year life expectancy for tankless units, well beyond a typical tank. We repair what is worth repairing and give you straight options on replacement, tank or tankless.

10 years

Low pressure, old pipe and lead lines

Weak pressure throughout the house often traces to corroded galvanized pipe or a failing pressure regulator. Under the EPA's 2024 Lead and Copper Rule Improvements, water systems must generally replace lead and galvanized-requiring-replacement service lines within 10 years. We handle whole-house repiping and service line replacement on the private side.

20°F

Freeze-damaged hose bibs and sprinklers

IBHS treats 20°F as the alert threshold for pipe freezing in southern homes, and outdoor spigots and irrigation backflow preventers sit right in the cold. A split hose bib often leaks inside the wall, out of sight. We replace damaged spigots with frost-free hose bibs and winterize sprinkler systems before the first hard freeze.

Our services

What types of plumbing services do we offer in Oklahoma City?

We are a full-service Oklahoma City plumber for homes and businesses. These are the main categories of work we do, with links to the details for each.

24/7 emergency plumbing

When water is where it should not be, you need someone who picks up. We answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, holidays included. That covers burst pipes, sewer backups, overflowing toilets, water heater leaks, a failed main shutoff, and gas odors. The first thing we do on the phone is help you stop the damage: which valve to close, what to switch off, and what can wait. Then we come out with the parts and equipment to finish the job in one trip whenever possible. Our experience goes back to 1985, so the 2 a.m. calls are familiar territory.

Drain cleaning, hydro jetting and sewer camera inspection

We clear clogged sinks, tubs, showers, floor drains and main sewer lines with cable machines sized to the pipe. For grease, scale and roots that keep coming back, hydro jetting scours the pipe walls clean instead of punching a hole through the blockage. When a line backs up more than once, we recommend a sewer camera inspection so you can see the actual condition of the pipe on screen. Homebuyers can book a sewer scope before closing, which is far cheaper than finding a collapsed line after you move in.

Water heater repair, replacement and tankless installation

We service gas and electric tank water heaters: thermocouples, gas valves, elements, thermostats, anode rods, relief valves and leaking connections. When replacement makes more sense, we size the new unit to your household and bring the venting, gas and water connections up to current requirements. Interested in endless hot water? ENERGY STAR lists a 20-year life expectancy for tankless models. We install them and handle the tankless flushing and descaling they need to stay efficient. A recirculation pump cuts the wait for hot water at faraway taps.

Leak detection, slab leaks and repiping

EPA WaterSense estimates that fixing easily corrected household leaks can save homeowners about 10 percent on their water bills. The hard part is finding the leaks you cannot see. We locate leaks inside walls, under slabs and in buried supply lines, then repair them by spot repair, reroute or replacement, depending on what the pipe can handle. For houses with failing galvanized or patched-together plumbing, whole-house repiping replaces the problem rather than chasing one leak at a time. A smart water shutoff valve can stop a leak automatically while you are away.

Sewer line repair, trenchless replacement and cast-iron descaling

Many older Oklahoma City homes still have clay tile or cast-iron sewer lines that crack, sag and invite roots. We repair and replace sewer lines with open excavation where it makes sense and trenchless pipe bursting where it saves your driveway and landscaping. For cast iron that is scaled but still sound, descaling restores the flow without replacing the line. We also install main sewer cleanouts so future clogs can be cleared from outside.

Winterization and freeze protection

On February 16, 2021, Oklahoma City hit minus 14°F, its second-coldest reading on record according to the Oklahoma Climatological Survey. That week taught a lot of homeowners where their pipes run. We winterize plumbing, insulate exposed lines, winterize vacation homes and rentals, replace weak spigots with frost-free hose bibs, and winterize sprinkler systems and backflow preventers. When a freeze does get through, we thaw lines and repair splits around the clock.

Gas lines, backflow testing and specialty plumbing

We repair and install natural gas lines for water heaters, ranges, dryers, generators and outdoor kitchens, and we perform gas leak detection and pressure testing. If you ever smell gas, leave the building first and call Oklahoma Natural Gas or 911 from outside. We also handle backflow testing and certification, whole-house filtration and reverse osmosis, lead service line replacement, walk-in tub plumbing, and septic and pressure tank repair on rural properties.

Commercial plumbing

Restaurants, offices, churches, retail and property managers call us for commercial drain cleaning, grease line hydro jetting, restroom fixture repair, commercial water heaters, backflow certification and scheduled maintenance that catches problems before they close your doors. Because we are open 24/7, we can work after hours when your business is closed.

Why Oklahoma City calls Plumber Oklahoma City, Ok Plumbing & Repair

40+ yrs

Four decades of Oklahoma plumbing

Our experience in the plumbing trade goes back to 1985, and the company is led by a Master Plumber. That is four decades of Oklahoma houses: post-war ranches with galvanized lines, slab homes on shifting clay, new builds with PEX manifolds. We have seen most problems before, which means faster answers and fewer guesses when a plumber is standing in your utility room.

24/7

Open when pipes actually break

Plumbing emergencies keep their own schedule, so we keep ours open. We answer nights, weekends and holidays, all year. During an Oklahoma freeze that matters more than ever, because a split pipe can release hundreds of gallons a day. When you call, a plumber helps you shut the right valve first, then heads your way.

About the company

Meet the Master Plumber behind Plumber Oklahoma City, Ok Plumbing & Repair

When you call us, you are not calling a franchise or a dispatch center three states away. You are calling a local company founded in Oklahoma City on September 22, 2013, by Rob Hammond, a Master Plumber who has worked in the trade since 1985.

The idea has always been simple: show up, explain what is actually wrong, give honest options, and do the work right the first time. That is why customers mention the explanations as often as the repairs. We take pride in our work, and we would rather fix the real problem than sell you something you do not need.

Straight answers

Oklahoma City plumbing questions, answered

Are you really open 24/7?

Yes. We answer calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays. Burst pipes, sewer backups, no hot water, a gas smell or water coming through the ceiling are all reasons to call right away. If it can safely wait, we will tell you that honestly and set a time that works for you.

Are you a licensed plumber in Oklahoma?

Yes. We are a licensed and insured Oklahoma plumbing company with experience in the trade going back to 1985. Plumbing in Oklahoma is a licensed trade overseen by the state Construction Industries Board, and when a job needs a permit, we pull it and schedule the city inspection so the work is on record.

What areas do you serve?

We serve all of Oklahoma City plus Edmond, Moore, Midwest City, Yukon, Mustang, Del City, Bethany, Warr Acres, The Village, Nichols Hills, Choctaw, Harrah, Jones, Spencer, Nicoma Park, Arcadia, Luther, Piedmont, Forest Park and Valley Brook. If you are near the edge of the metro, call and we will confirm.

What should I do if a pipe bursts?

Shut off your main water valve right away. In most Oklahoma City homes it is where the line enters the house, in a garage, utility closet, or in a box near the curb. Turn off the water heater if the leak is near it, move valuables away from the water, and call us. We answer 24/7.

How much does a plumber cost in Oklahoma City?

It depends on the problem, the access, and the parts involved. A simple fixture repair is a very different job than a sewer replacement. We diagnose first, explain what we found and what your options are, and give you the price before the work starts. Financing is available for larger jobs.

Do you handle commercial plumbing?

Yes. Along with homes, we work on restaurants, offices, retail spaces and other commercial properties, including commercial drain cleaning, grease line jetting, backflow testing and certification, water heaters, restroom fixtures and ongoing commercial plumbing maintenance.

Can you help before the next freeze?

Yes, and the best time is before the cold arrives. We winterize plumbing, insulate exposed pipes, install frost-free hose bibs, winterize sprinkler systems and protect backflow preventers. In February 2021 Oklahoma City hit minus 14°F, so a little preparation can save a lot of water damage.
