Slab Leak Detection & Repair in Oklahoma City, OK

If you think you need slab leak repair in Oklahoma City, start with the water meter, not a jackhammer. We find the leak under your concrete first, using pressure tests and listening equipment, then pick the repair that breaks the least floor: a spot repair, a tunnel or a reroute through the walls. You get a plain explanation before any concrete comes up, and we answer the phone 24/7.

What's included in our slab leak repair in Oklahoma City

A slab leak is a break in a water line that runs under or through your concrete foundation. You cannot see the pipe, and the concrete hides most of the clues. Our service covers the whole job:

  • Leak confirmation. A meter test with every fixture off, then separate tests on the hot and cold sides.
  • Pinpoint location. Pressure testing, acoustic listening through the floor, and thermal imaging on hot lines.
  • The right repair. A spot repair through a small opening, a tunnel from outside, or a reroute through walls or the attic.
  • Retest and patch. We pressure-test the system, backfill and patch the concrete. Tile or wood over the spot may need a flooring installer, and we say so up front.

Signs you have a slab leak

Slab leaks are quiet. Most people find them through a few small clues:

  • A warm patch on a tile or concrete floor
  • The sound of running water when everything is off
  • A water bill that jumps for no reason
  • A water heater that seems to run all the time
  • Damp carpet, swollen baseboards or a musty smell with no visible source
  • New cracks in floor tile, or low pressure throughout the house

Slab leak detection: finding the leak before breaking concrete

Guessing gets expensive when the floor is concrete. We separate the hot and cold systems and pressure-test each one, which tells us whether the leak is on the supply side at all and which line is losing water. Then we trace the pipe route and listen along it with acoustic equipment. Water escaping under pressure makes a distinct sound through concrete, loudest right over the break.

Hot water leaks give one more clue: heat. Thermal imaging can show a warm path across the floor that leads to the leak. We confirm with more than one method before we mark the spot, because a few feet of error means a second hole in your floor.

Our slab leak repair process

  1. Stop the damage. For a hot-side leak, closing the cold inlet valve on the water heater usually stops it while cold water keeps running. A cold-side leak may mean shutting the main.
  2. Locate and mark. We pinpoint the leak, mark it on the floor and show you what we found.
  3. Review your options. Spot repair or reroute, based on the age of the pipe and how likely more leaks are.
  4. Make the repair. We cut out the damaged section and install new pipe and fittings, or run a new line overhead and cap the old one.
  5. Test and close. We pressure-test the repair, check your house water pressure, backfill and patch.

Slab leak repair methods compared

The best method depends on where the leak is, how old the pipe is and what sits on top of the slab.

MethodBest forTrade-offs
Spot repair through the slabA single leak in pipe that is otherwise soundOpens a section of floor that must be refinished
Tunneling under the slabLeaks under cabinets, tubs or floors you want to keepMore digging outside, and it takes longer
Rerouting the lineOlder pipe with repeat leaks, or a leak in an awkward spotOpens drywall instead of concrete; the old line stays capped in the slab
Whole-house repipeSeveral slab leaks or failing pipe throughoutA larger project, but it ends the pattern

If this is your second or third slab leak, the pipe is telling you something. Rerouting one line, or moving to whole-house repiping, often costs less over time than opening the floor every few years.

What affects the cost of slab leak repair

We price the actual job after we find the leak and you choose a method. The biggest factors are where the leak sits (a bare garage floor versus a tiled shower), the repair method, the pipe material and age, the floor covering that has to come up, and any water damage to drywall or cabinets. Financing is available for larger repairs and reroutes.

Slab leaks in Oklahoma City: soil and foundation factors

Many Oklahoma City houses are built slab-on-grade, with water lines buried in the soil under the concrete. That ground does not sit still. The Oklahoma Geological Survey reports that over 75 percent of Oklahoma has bedrock that can produce expansive soils, and that clay minerals such as montmorillonite can swell to 1.5 to 2 times their dry volume when wet. OGS also notes that soil saturated by rain, lawn watering or sewer leaks can damage foundations and utility lines as it expands.

So the clay swells in wet spells and shrinks in drought, and the pipes under your slab ride along. A line pressed against concrete or gravel can wear through after years of that motion. A slab leak also feeds itself: the escaping water wets the clay, the clay swells, and the slab shifts more.

It hits your bill too. EPA WaterSense estimates the average family can waste 9,400 gallons a year from ordinary household leaks, and a pressurized line under a slab never shuts off. The city's utility is clear that finding and fixing leaks on your property is up to the account holder, so that water is billed to you.

Think you have a slab leak right now? If it points to hot water, close the cold valve on top of your water heater and turn the heater off. If water is coming up through the floor or the leak is on the cold side, shut off the main. Then call us, day or night.

After the repair: keeping the next one small

A slab leak can run for weeks before anyone notices. A smart water shutoff valve watches for constant flow and can close the main on its own. If you are not sure the leak is under the slab at all, start with water leak detection for the whole house. To see who will be in your home, read about our company.

Why Oklahoma City chooses us for slab leak repair

40+ yrs

We find it before we break concrete

Our plumbers bring more than 40 years in the trade to every job, and slab work rewards that kind of experience. Which line is leaking, how far does it run, and is a reroute smarter than opening the floor? A licensed plumber answers those questions before anything is cut, and that is why we isolate hot from cold, confirm the spot with more than one method, and cut the smallest opening that does the job.

4.9★

Honest advice on repair versus reroute

Customers rate us 4.9 stars across 88 Google reviews, and slab leaks are where straight talk matters most. One pinhole in a young line may only need a spot repair. A third leak in the same old copper usually means more are on the way. We lay out both paths, what each one involves and what it means for your floors, then let you choose. Financing is available for larger reroutes.

These guys were great! A breath of fresh air from the usual contractor/service. They cared about fixing the problem not how much they can charge. I had a same day service need, leak in between floors, the day before a trip. They came out same day and presented multiple solutions as well as keen explanations.

Slab Leak Repair questions, answered

What causes slab leaks in Oklahoma City homes?

Most slab leaks come from movement and wear. Central Oklahoma clay swells when wet and shrinks when dry, so the ground under a slab shifts with the seasons. Pipes that rub against concrete, gravel or rebar for years can wear through, and older copper can thin from the inside. High water pressure and poorly made original joints add stress. Hot water lines tend to fail first because they expand and contract every day.

How do I know if I have a slab leak?

Common signs include a warm spot on the floor, the sound of running water when nothing is on, a water heater that runs constantly, damp carpet or baseboards, and a water bill that climbs for no reason. Turn off every fixture and watch your water meter. If it keeps moving, you have a leak somewhere, and a pressure test will show whether it is under the slab.

Is it better to repair or reroute a slab leak?

A spot repair makes sense for a single leak in pipe that is otherwise sound. If the line has leaked before, or the leak sits under tile, cabinets or a shower you do not want to open, rerouting is often the better value. The new pipe runs through walls or the attic, and the old line is capped and left in the slab. We explain the trade-offs for your house before you decide.

Does homeowners insurance cover slab leak repair?

It depends on your policy. Some policies help with the cost of accessing the pipe and repairing water damage but not the pipe itself, and others treat slab leaks differently. Call your agent before work starts if you plan to file a claim. We can give you photos of what we found and a written description of the failed line and the repair to help with that conversation.
