From railroad stop to boom town

Moore began as a watering stop on the Southern Kansas Railway, laid through the area in 1886 and 1887, and took its name from railroad worker Al Moore before incorporating in 1893, according to the Oklahoma Historical Society. Old Town Moore, the original grid around Broadway Avenue and Main Street, still marks that start. For most of the next century, Moore stayed a small farm town.

Then it took off. The population jumped from 1,783 in 1960 to 18,761 in 1970 and 35,063 by 1980, as families working at Tinker Air Force Base, in Oklahoma City and in Norman bought new houses here. Census estimates for 2020 to 2024 put the median Moore home at 1987, and about half of the city's roughly 25,000 housing units were built between 1960 and 1989. The 1970s alone account for about one in five. Those houses are now 35 to 65 years old, which is when original water heaters, supply lines, cast-iron drains and sewer laterals start asking for attention.

Tornado rebuilds: newer plumbing on older lots

Two violent tornadoes reset whole neighborhoods. On May 3, 1999, an F5 tornado entered Moore's western city limits and damaged more than 3,000 homes in town, and another tornado followed a similar path on May 9, 2003. On May 20, 2013, an EF5 tornado crossed Santa Fe Avenue, hit businesses along Telephone Road and crossed I-35, and more than 300 homes took EF4 or EF5 damage before it faded near Lake Stanley Draper on the east side, per NWS Norman.

About 39 percent of Moore's housing was built in 2000 or later. Rebuilt houses usually have PEX or CPVC supply lines and PVC drains, but a new house can still tie into an older sewer lateral or water service in the yard. Next door, an untouched 1970s home may have every original pipe. That is why we confirm what is in the ground before quoting sewer line repair in Moore or any other buried work.

Moore's water: city wells plus Oklahoma City supply

The Moore Public Works Authority runs the city water system. Its report for 2025 says the water comes from 23 groundwater wells, with additional treated water purchased from Oklahoma City. The wells draw on the Central Oklahoma aquifer, also called the Garber-Wellington, which underlies about 2,890 square miles. USGS research found that shallow wells in the aquifer run higher in calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate, the minerals behind scale, and flagged arsenic, chromium and selenium in parts of it.

The 2025 report lists arsenic, selenium and uranium from natural deposits, and its 90th percentile lead result was zero. In July 2026, Oklahoma DEQ issued a boil order for the part of Moore east of I-35, south of SE 4th Street and north of Indian Hills Road after routine samples found E. coli, then lifted it on July 11. USGS also notes that private domestic wells are not monitored by the state, so anyone on a well near the edge of town has to test it themselves.

Clay soil, the Little River and fast rain

Moore sits on the clay-rich soil found across central Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Geological Survey notes that over 75 percent of the state has bedrock that can produce expansive soils, and that saturation from rain, lawn watering or sewer leaks can cause major damage. Slabs and buried pipe here move with the seasons, which is a big reason slab leak repair in Moore is a steady need.

Water moves fast, too. Little River Park had suffered years of flooding and erosion before the 2013 tornado damaged it, and the area flooded again in 2015, according to the engineers who later built a regional flood control system there. Over Easter weekend in 2025, the closest gauge caught nearly five inches of rain in about 90 minutes, and water ran across Eastern Avenue. Rain like that can overload sewer lines and push water back up through low drains.

Freezes, permits and licensing

Winter arrives in sharp bursts. On February 16, 2021, Oklahoma City, just north of Moore, hit minus 14°F, its second-lowest temperature on record, per the Oklahoma Climatological Survey. Two days earlier, Oklahoma City, which also sells water to Moore, reported that the cold had affected the treatment system at its Stanley Draper plant and left many of its own customers with low pressure or none.

Moore runs permits through its Planning and Development department, where the Building Permits and Inspections division handles inspections, and an occupancy permit for new construction is issued only after the city planner, building official and fire marshal sign off. Oklahoma's Plumbing License Law of 1955 requires plumbing work to be done under a state license and leaves cities free to set their own plumbing codes and inspections.

Freeze season is here in Moore.

Freeze emergency? (405) 309-1873

Emergency & Everyday Plumbing in Moore

24/7 Emergency Plumbing Services in Moore

Burst lines on freezing nights, sewage rising in a tub after a downpour, a water heater leaking across the garage floor: Moore emergencies come at all hours, and we answer 24/7 with a licensed plumber on the line.

Drain Cleaning & Clogged Drain Repair in Moore

Kitchen and laundry lines in Moore's 1960s and 1970s ranch homes often run under the slab in cast iron that narrows with scale. We clear the clog, then tell you whether the pipe itself is the real problem.

Toilet Repair & Installation

A running toilet wastes water you pay the Moore Public Works Authority for, and a rocking toilet on a slab floor often means a failed wax ring. We fix flappers, fill valves and flanges, or install a new toilet.

Faucet & Sink Repair

Minerals in Moore's water leave crust on aerators and wear out faucet cartridges early. We repair dripping and low-flow faucets, replace sink traps and supply lines, and swap worn fixtures in kitchens and baths.

Garbage Disposal Repair & Replacement

A jammed, humming or leaking disposal is one of the most common kitchen calls in Moore. We repair or replace the unit and clear the shared drain so the next clog does not surface in the sink beside it.

Water Pressure Problems & Repair

Weak pressure in an older Moore house usually points to clogged galvanized pipe or a failing pressure regulator. We test at a hose bib, then repair or replace the regulator or track down the restriction.

Plumbing Fixture Installation & Replacement

Remodeling a 1970s bath in Moore or finishing a new build? We install sinks, faucets, toilets, showers and tub valves, and we check the shutoffs and supply lines behind each fixture while we are there.

Water Heater Services in Moore

Water Heater Repair in Moore

Moore's water comes from city wells plus purchased Oklahoma City supply, and the minerals in it settle in tanks over time. We repair pilots, thermocouples, elements, gas valves and leaks on gas and electric heaters.

Water Heater Replacement & Installation in Moore

Tanks installed during Moore's rebuilding after 2013 have now been running for more than a decade. We size the replacement, handle venting, gas or electrical hookups and expansion tanks, and pull the permit when the job needs one.

Tankless Water Heater Installation & Repair in Moore

Minerals from Moore's groundwater wells build scale inside a tankless heat exchanger. We install and repair tankless units, confirm the gas line can feed them, and set a flushing and descaling schedule that fits your water.

Hot Water Recirculation Pump Installation

Long floor plans in Moore's newer two-story homes can mean a long wait for hot water at the far bathroom. A recirculation pump keeps hot water close to the fixtures, so less of it runs down the drain.

Leak Detection, Water Lines & Repiping in Moore

Slab Leak Detection & Repair in Moore

Expansive clay under Moore's slab-on-grade houses moves buried pipe with every wet spring and dry August. A warm spot on the floor or a water meter that spins with everything off is usually the first clue.

Water Leak Detection & Repair in Moore

When the Moore water bill jumps and nothing looks wet, the leak is often underground between the meter box and the house. We pinpoint it with acoustic and pressure testing before anyone digs up the yard.

Water Line Repair & Replacement

The water service between the meter and your house usually belongs to the homeowner. In Moore's shifting clay, older service lines crack or pull apart at fittings, and we repair or replace them, underground runs included.

Whole-House Repiping

If your Moore home still has original galvanized or early copper supply pipe, low pressure, rusty water and repeat pinhole leaks say it is time. We repipe with PEX or copper and keep the wall openings small.

Lead Water Service Line Replacement

Moore Public Works Authority keeps a service line inventory you can ask about, and its 2025 lead results came back low. If your service line or home plumbing tests for lead, we replace it with copper or approved plastic.

Smart Water Shutoff Valve Installation

A smart shutoff on the main closes the water when a line bursts in a Moore garage or attic while you are at work. We install it at the main and set alerts for freezing temperatures and unusual flow.

Sewer & Drain Line Services in Moore

Sewer Line Repair & Replacement in Moore

Sewer laterals under Moore's boom-era homes are now around half a century old and sit in clay that swells and shrinks. We camera the line first, then repair or replace only the section that has failed.

Hydro Jetting

Kitchen grease and roots that find old pipe joints can coat a Moore sewer line from wall to wall. Hydro jetting scours the pipe back to full diameter, which a cable alone cannot do on a heavily built-up line.

Sewer Camera Inspection

Buying in Moore? Ask for a sewer scope. A rebuilt house can still sit on an older lateral, and a 1970s home may have offset joints or roots. Our camera shows the line foot by foot before you close.

Trenchless Sewer Repair & Replacement

Driveways, fences, patios and mature trees on established Moore lots often sit right over the sewer lateral. Trenchless repair and pipe bursting replace the line through small access pits instead of one long trench.

Cast-Iron Sewer Pipe Descaling

Cast-iron drains from Moore's building boom collect scale and rust that narrow the pipe. Descaling grinds the inside back to clean iron, which can extend the life of a line whose walls are still sound.

Sewer Root Removal

Roots from Moore's established shade trees push into old sewer joints looking for water, especially in dry summers. We cut them out, flush the line and show you on camera exactly where they are getting in.

Main Sewer Cleanout Installation

Many older Moore homes have no accessible outdoor sewer cleanout, which makes every main-line clog harder to reach. Adding one near the house gives us a direct way into the lateral without pulling a toilet.

Sewer Odor Detection & Repair

A sewer smell in a Moore house can come from a dry floor-drain trap, a cracked vent, a failed wax ring or a broken line under the slab. We smoke test and camera the system to find the source.

Winter Freeze Protection & Repair in Moore

Burst Pipe Repair in Moore

In a Moore deep freeze, pipes in garage walls and attics over garages tend to split first. Shut the water off at the house valve or meter box, then call. We repair the break and check the rest of the run.

Frozen Pipe Repair & Thawing in Moore

When the metro dropped to minus 14°F in February 2021, lines in Moore attics, garages and outside walls were the first at risk. We thaw frozen pipes safely, with no open flame, and look for splits before the water comes back.

Plumbing Winterization

Before the first hard freeze, we insulate exposed pipe in attics, garages and crawl spaces, seal drafts at wall penetrations, and winterize empty rentals and vacation homes in Moore so a cold snap does not find water sitting in exposed lines.

Outdoor Faucet & Hose Bib Freeze Repair

Many older Moore homes still have standard outdoor faucets on slab-level walls with no frost protection. We repair split hose bibs and install frost-free models that shut the water off inside the warm wall.

Sprinkler System Winterization

Moore lawns run on irrigation through hot summers, and the above-ground backflow preventer is the part most likely to crack in a freeze. We drain and protect the system, and repair freeze-damaged preventers in spring.

Gas, Water Quality & Specialty Plumbing in Moore

Gas Line Repair & Installation

Plenty of Moore homes, old and rebuilt, run their furnace, range and water heater on natural gas. We find and repair gas leaks, pressure test the piping, and run new lines for appliances when you remodel.

Whole-House Water Filtration Installation

Moore's 2025 water report lists naturally occurring arsenic, selenium and uranium among detected substances. A whole-house filter or under-sink reverse osmosis system, chosen after a water test, targets what is actually in your tap.

Backflow Testing & Certification

Lawn sprinkler systems and commercial buildings in Moore rely on backflow preventers to keep yard and process water out of the public supply. We test and certify assemblies, repair irrigation units and install replacements.

Outdoor Gas Line Installation (BBQ, Fire Pit, Outdoor Kitchen)

Adding a fire pit, grill or outdoor kitchen to a Moore patio? We run a properly sized gas line from your house piping, bury and protect it, and pressure test it before anything gets lit.

Walk-In Tub Plumbing Installation

Planning to age in place in a single-story Moore ranch home? We handle the plumbing for a walk-in tub, from drain changes in the slab to valves, supply lines and a water heater big enough to fill it.

Septic Plumbing & Pressure Tank Repair

Not every property around Moore is on city sewer and water. If your acreage near the edge of town runs on a septic system and a private well, we repair septic plumbing, pressure tanks, switches and well lines.

Commercial Plumbing in Moore

Commercial Drain Cleaning

Restaurants and shops along I-35 and Telephone Road send a lot of grease and paper through their lines. We clean commercial drains and jet restaurant grease lines on a schedule that keeps kitchens open.

Commercial Plumbing Maintenance

Moore offices, stores, churches and rental properties get scheduled checks of water heaters, restroom fixtures, backflow assemblies and drains, so a small leak gets fixed before it closes a room.

Why Moore calls us

Since 1985

Old pipes and new pipes on the same street

Our plumbing experience goes back to 1985, so we were already well into the trade when Moore began its first big rebuild after the May 1999 tornado. We know the galvanized supply lines and cast-iron drains still found in houses from the 1960s and 1970s, and we know the PEX and PVC that went into the rebuilds. That history tells us where to look first in a Moore house, whether it went up in 1972 or 2015, so you are not paying for guesswork or for opening walls in the wrong place.

Licensed

Licensed for the work Moore inspects

We are licensed and insured, and our plumbing experience goes back to 1985. Oklahoma law requires plumbing work to be done under a state license, and Moore inspects permitted work through its Building Permits and Inspections division. When a job calls for a permit, we pull it and meet the inspector, so the work is on record when you refinance or sell. Financing is available for larger projects like repiping or a new sewer lateral, and we explain the options before any work starts.

24/7

Answering when the weather turns

Moore's worst plumbing nights tend to arrive with the weather: a hard freeze, a spring storm that drops inches of rain in an hour, a line that lets go at 2 a.m. We answer 24/7, including nights, weekends and holidays, and same-day service is often available. Customers rate us 4.9 stars across 88 Google reviews, much of it earned with calm, clear help when the house is wet and everyone is tired. We tell you what to shut off before we arrive, then fix the cause, not just the puddle.

These guys were great! A breath of fresh air from the usual contractor/service. They cared about fixing the problem not how much they can charge. I had a same day service need, leak in between floors, the day before a trip. They came out same day and presented multiple solutions as well as keen explanations.

Moore plumbing questions

Where does Moore's tap water come from?

The Moore Public Works Authority's latest water quality report, covering 2025, says the city draws from 23 groundwater wells and also buys treated water from Oklahoma City through a connection between the two systems. Well water from the Central Oklahoma aquifer carries natural minerals, and the report lists arsenic, selenium and uranium from natural deposits among detected substances. A home water test shows what actually reaches your own tap, which matters if anyone in the house is on a sodium-restricted diet or you are choosing a filter.

Do I need a permit for plumbing work in Moore?

Many plumbing jobs do. Moore handles permits through its Planning and Development department, and the Building Permits and Inspections division schedules the inspections. Oklahoma's Plumbing License Law lets cities run their own plumbing codes and inspections, and it requires the work to be done by a state-licensed plumber. We check what your job needs, pull the permit when one is required and meet the inspector on site.

My house was rebuilt after the 2013 tornado. Is all the plumbing new?

The plumbing inside the walls usually is, but the yard is another story. A rebuilt house may still connect to an older sewer lateral or water service line that survived underground, and on some lots parts of the original foundation may have been reused. A sewer camera inspection and a quick look at the water service tell you exactly what you have, which is worth knowing before you buy or sell.

Why do slab leaks and sewer problems show up so often in Moore?

Moore sits on the clay-rich soils common across central Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Geological Survey notes that over 75 percent of the state has bedrock that can produce expansive soils, and that saturation from rain, lawn watering or sewer leaks can cause major damage. That swelling and shrinking stresses pipe under slabs and in yards, especially when a dry summer ends in heavy rain.

When should I protect my pipes from freezing in Moore?

In February 2021, Oklahoma City, just north of Moore, hit minus 14°F, its second-lowest reading on record. IBHS research flags 20°F as the point where pipes in southern homes start to be at risk. On nights colder than that, drip faucets on outside walls, open sink cabinets, disconnect garden hoses and make sure you know where your main shutoff is, at the house or the meter box.
