What's included in our toilet repair in Oklahoma City
We handle every part of a toilet, from the handle to the drain underneath it:
- Tank repairs. Flappers, fill valves, flush valves, handles, chains and tank-to-bowl gaskets and bolts.
- Leaks at the base. Pulling the toilet, replacing the wax seal and repairing or replacing a broken floor flange.
- Supply side. New braided supply lines and quarter-turn shutoff valves to replace old, stuck ones.
- Clogs. Clearing the trapway with a closet auger, or pulling the toilet when something is lodged deep.
- Replacement and new installation, including water-saving models.
Common toilet problems and what fixes them
| Problem | Usual cause | Typical fix |
| Runs or refills on its own | Worn or warped flapper | New flapper, chain adjusted |
| Never stops filling | Fill valve worn or set too high | Adjust or replace the fill valve |
| Weak flush | Low tank water level, mineral-clogged rim holes, or a partial clog | Reset the level, clean the jets, clear the trapway |
| Water at the base | Failed wax seal or cracked flange | Pull, repair the flange, reset on a new seal |
| Rocking | Loose or broken flange bolts, uneven floor | New bolts, proper shims, reset |
| Clogs often | Partial blockage in the trapway or drain line | Auger the toilet, check the line beyond it |
If several fixtures back up when the toilet is flushed, the clog is past the toilet, and drain cleaning of the line is the real fix.
Check for a silent leak: put a few drops of food coloring in the tank and wait. EPA WaterSense says that if any color shows up in the bowl after 10 minutes, you have a leak. Flush afterward so the dye does not stain. A leaking flapper can waste thousands of gallons a year without making a sound.
Toilet installation and replacement
A new toilet is only as good as how it is set. Before we install one, we measure the distance from the finished wall to the center of the drain so the toilet fits, and we check the floor flange for cracks or rust. The plumbing code Oklahoma uses requires that a toilet sit at least 15 inches from its center to any side wall, with at least 21 inches of clear space in front, which matters when you are choosing a model for a tight bathroom.
Every installation gets a new wax or foam seal, new closet bolts, a new supply line, and a shutoff valve that actually works. We level and shim the bowl so it cannot rock, connect the tank, test for leaks through several flushes and clean up. If you are redoing more than one fixture, our fixture installation service covers sinks, faucets, showers and tubs too.
Repair or replace your toilet?
EPA WaterSense says toilets are the main source of water use in the home, accounting for nearly 30 percent of indoor water use. Older toilets can use as much as 6 gallons per flush. WaterSense labeled toilets use 1.28 gallons per flush or less, 20 percent less than the federal standard of 1.6 gallons, and EPA estimates that replacing old toilets with them can save a home nearly 13,000 gallons of water a year.
- Repair it when the porcelain is sound and the problem is a flapper, fill valve, handle or seal.
- Replace it when the tank or bowl is cracked, it clogs constantly, parts are hard to find, or it is an old high-volume model.
Toilets that clog again and again
A toilet that needs the plunger every week is telling you something. Sometimes it is a small object, like a toothbrush, comb or toy, wedged in the trapway where water slips past but paper catches. A closet auger rarely pulls that out, so we lift the toilet and clear it from below. Sometimes the bowl's rim holes and siphon jet are crusted with minerals, which weakens every flush. And sometimes the toilet is fine and the drain line beyond it is partly blocked by wipes, roots or a sag. We check in that order, starting with the cheapest fix, so you are not sold a new toilet that clogs just like the old one.
What affects the cost of toilet repair
- Which part failed. A flapper is a small job. A broken flange set in concrete is a bigger one.
- Floor condition. Rot under a long-leaking toilet has to be dealt with before resetting.
- Valves and lines. Swapping a stuck shutoff valve or a cracked supply line adds a little time.
- The toilet you choose, if replacing.
We price the actual job after we see it, and financing is available.
Toilets in Oklahoma City homes: local factors
Many Oklahoma City houses sit on concrete slabs, so the toilet flange is set into the slab and a broken one takes care to repair without breaking concrete. Older homes may still have cast iron drains under the toilet, where a corroded flange is common. If a toilet keeps smelling even after a new seal, the cause may be a dry trap or vent problem elsewhere, and sewer odor detection tracks it down. While we are there, we can also take care of a dripping faucet or sink. Learn more about our company.
